For all who want to know more:
Plant, history and cultivation
Cacao was already being cultivated in Central America by the Mayas and Aztecs in 400 BC. At that time the special bean was reserved for the nobility and was only served as a drink with chilli and honey on special occasions.
The cacao variety Criollo is one of the best and most expensive cacao variety in the world. Even if the cultivation of this variety, compared to other cocoa varieties, often brings challenges, the taste of the cacao beans shows that it is worth taking on this challenge.
Ingredients, nutrition and use
Due to the mild taste of the fine cacao variety Criollo, the cacao beans are excellent for direct consumption. Cacao nibs and cacao powder are delicious in muesli, smoothie bowls, as a snack or as a baking ingredient. A special product is our Yacoa®, cocoa nibs coated with Yacon Syrup, which taste sweeter than well-known cocoa nibs.
Cacao and social commitment
Behind our cacao products lies a high level of social commitment. So far we have built up a water supply in the growing region. The aim is to create a village community with kindergarten, school and electricity supply. We support the cacao farmers in securing their livelihood and improving the quality of life.
